Why Choose Us
Console Repairs Done at Board Level
Many console faults end at the motherboard, and we repair them at board level ourselves, in-house at our Franklin workshop.
In-House Microsoldering
We replace named chips at our own bench: the Panasonic MN864739 HDMI encoder on the PS5, and the M92T36, BQ24193 and PI3USB30532 charging and USB chips on the Switch.
Genuine Parts Where Available
We fit genuine OEM parts where we can source them and quality-tested aftermarket parts where we cannot. Your written quote shows which before you approve.
Quote First, No Surprises
We assess your console and email you a written quote. Nothing is repaired until you approve it, and we tell you if a repair isn't realistic.
Warranty That Matches the Repair
Genuine chips fitted in microsoldering carry a lifetime warranty on parts and labour. Thermal service and cleaning carry 12 months.
Inside Our Franklin Workshop
Every board-level repair is done in-house at our own bench, with a hot-air rework station, a temperature-controlled soldering station and a PCB preheater, and inspected under a trinocular microscope, then tested again before your console goes home. Since 2020 we have repaired consoles for Canberra gamers and for customers who post theirs from across Australia.

What game consoles do you repair?
Seki Gadgets repairs 12 console models at our Franklin workshop in Canberra: the PS5 Disc, Digital, Slim and Pro; the PS4, PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro; the Xbox Series X and Series S; and the Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED. Choose your console in the cards above for its own page, or tell us the symptoms in the quote form. Older and retro consoles are covered in the retro question below.
Do you repair PS4 consoles?
Yes. Seki Gadgets repairs the PS4, PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro at our Franklin workshop in Canberra, or by mail-in from anywhere in Australia. PS4 HDMI port repair is $150 to $205, depending on your model and the fault, and other PS4 faults are quoted per fault, in writing, before any work starts. Common jobs include HDMI ports, power faults, disc drives and overheating, and component repairs carry our lifetime warranty.
Do you repair retro or older consoles?
No. Seki Gadgets services current-generation consoles only: the PS4 and PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and the Switch family. We don't repair the Switch 2, Xbox One, PS3 or older systems. For retro and older consoles we recommend Retro Sales (retrosales.com.au), a specialist in retro console repair and restoration. Tell them Seki Gadgets referred you.
Do you offer console modding?
No. Seki Gadgets doesn't offer console modding. We specialise in repairs that restore your console to manufacturer specification, from HDMI ports and disc drives to board-level microsoldering, at our Franklin workshop in Canberra. Not sure whether your job counts as a repair? Describe the symptoms in the quote form and we will tell you what we can do.
Do you repair game controllers?
Yes. At Seki Gadgets in Canberra we repair Joy-Con and Switch Lite stick drift, and we quote PlayStation DualSense and Xbox controllers per controller. Stick drift repairs with a factory or original replacement stick carry a 3-month warranty, and TMR joystick upgrades carry our lifetime warranty. You receive a written quote before any work begins, whether you visit our Franklin workshop or post the controller to us.
Which console repairs carry a lifetime warranty?
Seki Gadgets covers component and board-level repairs with our lifetime warranty: HDMI ports, USB and charging ports, disc drives and other board-level work, genuine chips fitted in microsoldering, and a new fan fitted during a service. Thermal service, cleaning and batteries carry 12 months. Liquid damage is not covered. If you are unsure which tier your repair falls into, ask us in the quote form.
How long do console repairs take?
Most console repairs at Seki Gadgets in Canberra currently take 1 to 3 working days, based on our live workshop queue. Board-level faults can take longer, depending on parts and diagnosis, and we give you the timeframe with your written quote. If you post your console to us, add Australia Post transit time each way. Express mail-in gives you same-day diagnosis when your console arrives before 12 pm.
What should I do if my console is overheating?
Switch it off and let it cool, then stand it somewhere open and ventilated, away from carpet, bedding and direct sun. Playing on while it is hot risks further damage. At Seki Gadgets in Canberra we strip the console down, clean the cooling system and renew the thermal compound: liquid metal on the PS5, thermal paste on the PS4, Xbox and Switch. Thermal service carries our 12-month warranty.
Are my games and saves safe during a console repair?
Your games and saves normally stay as they are. Console repairs at Seki Gadgets work on the hardware, not your storage, and we don't reset your console. As good practice before any repair, back up your saves with your console's cloud saves or a backup of your own. If you post your console to us from outside Canberra, we handle it the same way at our Franklin workshop.
